My naturalpath suggested that l feed my daughter goats milk and to add roasted buckwheat to the milk as a substitute for formula. l breastfeed and give her formula. l do not have enough breastmilk to feed her all day, just morning and night.
Does anyone know if goats milk is sufficient enough for her?
l also feed her soilds for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Has anyone put their child on goats milk before they turned 1?

Is goats milk sufficient enough for my 8 month old

If u r nursing & home all day u have enough BM, lots of moms think they don't. Use this site to check out ur supply issues

Goats milk is not enough BM is enough, & if u have to use formula that it is better than goats milk. Your naturalpath should've told u how to use herbs to increase milk intake or actually given u a correct recipe for goats milk formula, theres a link to one on kellymom.com, but I still do not think u need it.

Just a suggestion, but perhaps, you have a low supply because you only feed at those times.Your body only produces the amount of breast milk that is consumed in a day. Have you tried getting your supply back up by pumping or feeding more frequently?

If cow is milk is not good for babies under the age on 1, then I do not see how goat milk would be any different.

I would give her formula over goats milk. Of course talk to your pediatrician first. Formula has extra iron, which babies need. Goats milk/cow milk is no substitute for breastmilk/formula at this age. When she is 10-11 months, with your pediatrician is okay, then you could potentially switch to cow is milk (or, goats milk, I suppose.., although I am not clear on why you want to give your baby goats milk). Regardless, i would not do it at this age.

Do u really think taking medical advice from some quack who knows nothing about the human body is the best thing for ur little baby? Or do u want to listen to 100% of medical doctors who have gone to many years of school studying the human body & the nutrients it needs & who all agree that a baby should have breastmilk or formula until 1 year of age? If goats milk was acceptable they would recommend that as an alternative, however they all agree that cows milk based formula is the best alternative to breastmilk.

I can not believe these nuts r out there giving advice such as this to mothers, good thing u have sense enough to question it.

Use formula as a supplement if it is necessary.

It is one thing to use these ''so called'' natural ''doctors'' (not that they should be called doctors) for yourself but when it comes to ur baby please consult a real medical doctor, u have the choice to take their wacky advice but ur baby does not.

Not from my own experience, but a friend of mine had a baby with colic and had her on goats milk at a very early age (2 months). But still, I would talk to the doctor.

Yes, goat is milk is sufficient enough and goat is protein is most alike to that of human milk protein. It is usually easier for babies to adjust to than cow is milk formula or soy based formulas. Please know that the rate of allergy is comparable to that of cow is milk and soy. Your daughter should do just fine on goat is milk.

you DO have enough milk, you just have to let her nurse when she is hungry and your milk supply will go up. I understand people is obsession with ''natural'' stuff. But what is natural about giving a human baby goat milk? she is not a goat!

Is your naturalpath a Doctor of medicine? did not think so.

I would ask a pediatrician first. You want to be sure baby gets all she needs nutritionally. Not to mention you want to be sure it has been processed to remove anything harmful that could make her sick.
